Paradiso

Barcelona

A founding father of Barcelona’s cocktail renaissance

When Italian-born bartender Giacomo Giannotti opened Paradiso in 2015, the bar brought a novel concept to Barcelona's city's historic cocktail scene. In the decade since, the Catalan city has become a global cocktail powerhouse, thanks in part to Paradiso trailblazing a path for innovative cocktail dens to emerge across the city.

For those who could find its entrance through the fridge door of a pastrami shop in El Born, Gaudí-inspired interiors and highly conceptual cocktails offered theatricality and storytelling previously unseen in the bars across the city.

Its impact was immediate. Just two years after opening, it received its first international accolade with the Campari One to Watch Award in 2017, recognising its potential to break into the future rankings. Just one year later, that prospect came to fruition as it landed at No.37 in the 2018 ranking. The following years saw the bar continuously grow its profile before achieving the ultimate accolade in 2022, where Paradiso was named The World's Best Bar on its home turf in Barcelona.

Few bars in the history of The 50 Best Bars have reached the top spot in the ranking, but Paradiso's ascent was nothing short of historic as the first bar outside of London or New York to reach No.1. In the years following its landmark achievement, the bar has consistently retained its place among the global greats of the cocktail world and continued to innovate through the expansion of its R&D efforts in the Paradiso Lab, and becoming a hub of knowledge sharing via the annual Paradiso Sustainability Summit.

A pivotal figure in the rebirth of Barcelona's cocktail scene and a high-performing global innovator, Paradiso is named winner of the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award 2026 as part of The 50 Best Bars 2026.
