Narisawa

Tokyo, Japan

The 50
  • Accolades
  • No.21 The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025
  • No.37 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026

With dishes inspired by Japan's natural landscape and ecosystems, Narisawa was the inaugural winner of the Sustainable Restaurant Award, as part of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2013. The kitchen continues to be recognised for following the philosophy of a traditional, sustainable relationship between people and nature in Japan's rural satoyama landscapes. Signature dishes include Bread of the Forest, which rises at the table by candlelight as guests dine, served with moss butter. Chef and founder Yoshihiro Narisawa's cooking style taps into Japan's extensive foraging and farming communities, with the menu changing daily, in true omakase style. Think hyper-local Japanese ingredients blended with European and pan-Asian cooking techniques. Narisawa is also one of the finest restaurants to experience exceptional Japanese sips – sample pinot noir from Nagano, riesling from Iwate and aged Bordeaux-style blends from Yamagata, alongside plenty of sake, of course.
