About The 50 Discovery

Formerly known as 50 Best Discovery, The 50 Discovery is a travel planning tool designed to help people uncover the very best in global hospitality, extending the annual rankings of restaurants, bars, hotels and vineyards into a broader guide for travellers.

Every venue listed has received votes from the panels behind The 50 Best Restaurants, The 50 Best Bars, The 50 Best Hotels, The 50 Best Vineyards, and the awards' regional counterparts: The 50 Best Restaurants Asia, The 50 Best Restaurants North America, The 50 Best Restaurants Latin America, The 50 Best Restaurants Middle East & Africa, The 50 Best Bars North America, The 50 Best Bars Europe and The 50 Best Bars Asia.

While built on these rankings, The 50 Discovery reaches beyond them, covering everything from neighbourhood favourites to fine dining institutions.

The rankings themselves are decided by eleven global voting academies comprised of more than 1,100 individually selected experts for restaurants, 800-plus for bars and hotels respectively and 700 for vineyards, including chefs, restaurateurs, bartenders, bar owners, hoteliers, sommeliers, journalists and wine trade and tourism specialists.

To qualify for The 50, a venue must receive a number of votes in the latest round for one of the global or regional lists. Curation sits entirely with The 50, venues can neither apply to be added, nor pay to be included.
