La Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima (Lima City Council) is responsible for the management of a city that brings together more than 500 hundred years of history and a contemporary, diverse and internationally recognised identity (in 2026, it was named as the Iberoamerican Capital of Culture by the UCCI). As part of the 'Lima es clave' (Lima is key) campaign, the organisation is promoting policies and projects designed to reclaim public space, strengthen the city's heritage, promote tourism and invigorate the local economy, showing the city to be open to the world.

In 2026, Lima will host The 50 Best Restaurants, one of the most important gastronomic gatherings in the world, reaffirming the city's position as a leader in global gastronomy. The selection of Lima as a host destination is especially significant since the city's food scene has achieved the highest levels of global recognition: in 2025, Maido was named The World's Best Restaurant, while Central took the top spot in 2023.

La Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima supports this vision by promoting a city where gastronomy, culture, heritage and economic development come together. Hosting this event represents an opportunity to showcase to the world the richness of Lima – its produce, traditions, chefs and entrepreneurs – as well as its ability to host major international events and offer experiences that bring together history, creativity and diversity.
